Get Involved

Here's what people are saying about Minyan Alumot:

"When we started this minyan, I was looking for a space where my daughters and I would feel included and welcome, while remaining within Modern Orthodoxy. What keeps me coming back is the wonderful community." —Aylit Schultz Scharf, minyan organizer

"Minyan Alumot breaks the mold. It's traditional and committed, but also broad-minded; deeply thoughtful, yet surprisingly congenial; seriously learned and welcoming to all." —Jacob Meskin, adult Jewish educator

"Even if you come not knowing anyone, you won't leave as a stranger. " —Bonnie Besdin, Brighton resident.

We are eager to make you a part of our community! We are lay-led and volunteer-staffed, so all help is welcome. These are some of the ways you can get involved:

  • Services: If you can lead davening, leyn, read Haftorah, or serve as a Gabbai, there are many opportunities to practice and present your skills. Women lead prayers for the State of Israel, the IDF, the U.S. government, and for the captives and offer additional psalms.
    • For leyning, haftorah, contact Itamar Conforti at iconforti@gmail.com
    • For davening, gabbai, etc. contact Steven Goldstein at steven.goldstein@mac.com
  • Dvrei Torah: After services, the mechitzah comes down and speakers from the community or guests deliver a short d'var.
      • Contact Aylit Schultz Scharf at aylitscharf@gmail.com
  • Kiddush: We think we have one of the best dairy kiddushes in town! Any help with purchasing and preparing would be warmly welcomed.
    • Contact Kathy Jungreis at kjjungreis@aol.com
  • Programs: This past year we had a Tikkun Layl Shavuot and are interested in additional ideas for further community programs.
    • Contact Aylit Schultz Scharf at aylitscharf@gmail.com
